OFF FESTIVAL 2015. 2/3

El sábado comenzaba tan caluroso como el día anterior y con el primer grupo interesante en torno a las 4 de la tarde, era los polacos Ketha quienes abrían para mi las hostilidades.

Saturday began as hot as the day before and the first band I saw it was the polish band Ketha.

Un grupo de música muy técnica que bien podríamos situar en el sendero abierto por grupos como Meshuggah o The Dillinger Escape Plan y que demostraron una profesionalidad absoluta tocando música tan exigente con un calor sofocante y sudando la gota gorda.

A band that we could put on the path opened by bands like Meshuggah and The Dillinger Escape Plan and showed an absolute professionalism that demand playing that kind of music with such a heat and the sun kicking them.

El concierto fue muy intenso pero fue muy poco el publico que estuvo presente y menos los que vimos el concierto completo. Otro de los grupos que no había visto y que volveré a ver si tengo ocasión.

The concert was very intense but it was very little public who attended and fewer who saw the entire concert as I do. Another group that hadn’t seen before and I’ll hope to see if I have time.

Y tras una descarga de metal, nada mejor para cambiar el tercio completamente que ver un grupo de música popular como Hańba (algo así como “vergüenza” en polaco). Música de las montañas absolutamente festiva que te inyectaba las ganas de bailar y disfrutar como si estuvieses en las fiesta de un pueblo.

And after a storm of metal, nothing better to switch completely the tune than see a band of popular music as Hańba (meaning something similar to “shame” in Polish). A kind of music from the mountains that injected you the urge to dance and enjoy like you’re in a village party.

Lo único que faltaba en el concierto fue el poder tomarte algo mientras tocaban, pero la ley seca se impone por desgracia.

The only thing missing in the concert was to have a drink while they were playing, but the prohibition was imposed unfortunately.

De nuevo otro cambio completo de estilo nos llevaba al escenario principal, King Khan & The Shrines nos traían una descarga de soul energético con una banda entregada y un cantante….bueno, solo las fotografías pueden describir al cantante….

Yet another completely change of style took us to the main stage, King Khan & The Shrines brought us a lot of energy from a soul band at full speed and a singer … well, only pictures can describe the singer ….

Por primera vez en mi vida veía un “pogo» en un concierto de Soul, la gente se volvió loca en el concierto (tal vez por causa de las temperaturas o solo por el propio efecto de la música) y con músicos dándolo todo sobre el escenario.

For the first time in my life I saw a «pogo» in a soul concert, people went crazy at the concert (perhaps due to the temperature or only by the proper effect of the music) and musicians were giving everything on the stage.

Al final del concierto, hicieron una pequeña pausa para que King Khan pudiese cambiar de modelito (o de ausencia de él) y nos deleitase con sus contoneos.

At the end of the concert, they made a little pause just for King Khan to get even more undressed and delight us with their wiggles.

Un concierto para no olvidar, pero por la sorpresa positiva del mismo.

A concert to remember, but due to the positive surprise.

Lo siguiente que pude ver fue otro grupo que, ahora si, denominaría folklórico. Huun Huur Tu, un grupo ruso de música tradicional que tocando instrumentos completamente desconocidos atrajeron a un gran cantidad de publico a su concierto.

The next thing I saw was another band, now I would call it folkloric. Huun Huur Tu, a Russian band playing traditional music with instruments completely unknown to me attracted a large audience at the concert.

Otro concierto de esos que solo ves en ocasiones son los festivales con su amplia oferta musical. Muy curioso.

Another concert of those who only occasionally you see at the festivals with its wide musical range. Very curious.

Posteriormente vi de pasada a un tal ILoveMakonnen que no me generó mucho interés pero a otros si se lo produjo.

Later I saw just for a while a musician called ILoveMakonnen that wasn’t for me but other enjoy it.

Tras ellos me acerque a ver a Sun Ra Arkestra. Una Big Band con todas las de la ley pero vestidos con túnicas y ropajes muy distintos de lo que puedes esperar de este tipo de conjuntos. La verdad es que era completamente atípico pero muy entretenido.

Later I arrived to see Sun Ra Arkestra. A Big Band with all the rights to this name but dressed in a way unexpected from what you had seen before in this kind of style. The truth is that it was completely unusual but very entertaining.

Una propuesta completamente distinta de lo que puedes esperar en un festival de este tipo, pero que demuestra que no hay fronteras para la buena música y que demuestra la apertura de miras del festival. He dicho que me gustan los festivales?

A proposal completely different from what you expect at a festival like this, but it shows that there are no borders for good music and showing open-mindedness of the festival. I said I like festivals?

Tras ellos, llegaba la banda mas fuerte (o mejor dicho, la mas caótica) del festival, The Dillinger Escape Plan. Para quien no los haya visto nunca, dar unos detalles respecto a su intensidad: He visto a su cantante saltar sobre el publico con las primeras notas del primer tema, tirar monitores al foso, subirse por las torres de sonido y un largo etcétera de fechorías varias.

And then was the time for the strongest band (or rather, the more chaotic) in the festival, The Dillinger Escape Plan. For those who haven’t seen them before, I will give a few details regarding its intensity: I’ve seen his singer jump on the public on the first notes of the first song at one show, the band throw monitors to the photo pit, climbing to the sound towers and a long list of several mischiefs.

En esta ocasión, la dinámica fue similar sin embargo me pareció que ahora están ligeramente mas calmados que en otras ocasiones. Tal vez se van atemperando con la edad y su repertorio va incluyendo más canciones “melódicas» que han aparecido en sus últimos discos.

This time, the dynamic was similar but I thought now they are slightly calmer than on other occasions. Maybe they are tempering with age and his setlist is including more «melodic» songs that have appeared in their latest albums.

Esto no quiere decir que se haya vuelto un grupo accesible pero si resulta más sencillo de escuchar para los no iniciados. En el grupo han cambiado nuevamente de a un guitarra desde la vez que los vi el año anterior pero la contundencia no ha desaparecido. Concierto grandioso que demostró que es una banda que sigue creciendo y madurando. Auténticos cracks!!!

This doesn’t mean that it has become an accessible group but now it’s easier to listen for the uninitiated. In the group they have changed again one guitarist from the time I saw them last year but the strength has not disappeared. Great concert that proved that the band continues to grow and mature. Real cracks!!!

Tras ellos no quedaban muchas fuerzas y las ultimas las gaste en ir a ver a un grupo llamado Xiu Xiu interpretando según su visión los temas de la banda sonora de Twin Peaks.

There was no many strength left and spent the last that I have seeing a band called Xiu Xiu playing their interpretation of the Twin Peaks soundtrack.

He de decir que la propuesta sonaba muy interesante y que la presentación también lo era, pero lo calmado de los temas unido a lo largo de la jornada me invitó a terminar el día con ese buen sabor de boca. Hay tantas cosas para ver que siempre toca renunciar a algo.

I must say that the proposal sounded very interesting and so was the presentation, but the calm mood of the songs together with the long journey invited me to end the day with such good taste. There are so many things to see that always needs to give up something.
