La nueva hornada de bandas, el legado de Trouble y sus versiones en directos. Etapa 2 / The new batch of bands, the legacy of Trouble and his live versions. Stage 2

Mi ultimo articulo había terminado con un gran concierto en Cracovia de grupos noveles y llegaba la mañana siguiente y el momento de coger un tren rápido denominado Pendolino en dirección a la ciudad de Gdynia, situada en el norte de Polonia, en la costa del Mar Báltico.

My last article had finished with a great concert in Krakow performed by some quite young bands  so the next morning arrived and it was time to take a fast train called Pendolino towards the city of Gdynia, located in northern Poland, on the Baltic Sea coast.

Un viaje de unas 6 horas en tren (vaya, tal vez no es tan rápido este tren para hacer unos 600 km) pero lo cierto es que el viaje es muy cómodo y pude aprovechar para resolver algunos temas de trabajo durante el mismo.

A journey of about 6 hours by train (oops, maybe this train is not so fast for a journey about 600 km) but the truth is that the trip was very comfortable and I could use to solve some issues work during it.

Tras tan larga jornada, aproveche para darme un chapuzón en el hotel y prepararme para el concierto.

After such a long day, I take the opportunity to swim in the hotel swimming pool and get ready for the concert.

El lugar el concierto era la sala Ucho  que estaba bastante cerca del centro de la ciudad aunque un poco oculta.

The place  for the concert (the Ucho club) was quite close to the city center although a bit hidden.

Lo que me llevaba allí era el concierto de The Skull, banda con Eric Wagner de los legendarios Trouble a las voces y con su antiguo compañero Ron Holzer en el bajo.

And the reason for me to be there and make this long journey it was the concert of The Skull, a band with Eric Wagner from the legendary Trouble at vocals and with his former teammate Ron Holzer on bass.

Pero no vamos a adelantarnos todavía, primero era el turno de Bitchcraft, que ya había visto en el Stoner & Doom Festival de Katowice y que me dejaron un muy grato recuerdo.

But let’s not get too far yet, first it was the turn of Bitchcraft, who I had already seen in the Stoner & Doom Festival in Katowice with a very pleasant remembrance.

Siendo una banda local, pensé que podrían congregar en la audiencia a algunos de su compadres, pero la afluencia de publico para ese concierto fue un gran fiasco. Una autentica pena para las bandas y para la organización, pero he de decir que las bandas se comportaron de una manera sensacional (tocando para las no mas de 30 personas que estábamos viendo el concierto).

Being a local band, I thought they could gather in the audience to some of his mates, but the attendance of the public for that concert was a big fail. A real shame for the bands and for the organization, but I will say that bands behaved in a sensational way (playing for no more than 30 people who were watching the concert).

Como decía, Bitchcraft dieron el primer concierto de la noche y nos ambientaron con ese doom con vocalista femenina que mezclado con las inspiración de Electric Wizard y otras bandas similares, tienen una aproximación muy distinta.

As I said, Bitchcraft gave the first concert of the night and they warmed us with that specific doom with female vocalist that mixed with the inspiration of Electric Wizard and similar bands, have a very different approach to other actual bands.

A continuación era el tiempo de la banda que acompañaba a The Skull durante toda la gira, los alemanes Stepfather Fred. Con una propuesta mas rockera o incluso un poco hardcore, parecían un poco fuera de lugar, estilísticamente hablando.

After them,  it was time for the band that support The Skull throughout the whole tour, the Germans Stepfather Fred. With a more rock or even a little hardcore proposal they seemed a bit out of place, stylistically speaking.

 

Cumplieron con su cometido, presentaron sus temas de manera convincente y seguramente hicieron la mejor puesta en escena de esa noche con los cañones de humo y los juegos de luces.

They fulfilled their role, presented their songs convincingly and for sure they made the best visual use of the stage  that night with some smoke and lighting effects.

Pero musicalmente hablando, la noche y el protagonismo era todo para The Skull. Venían con su primer Lp con un tiempo entre nosotros y un EP que salía en esos mismos días, aunque era el legado de Trouble el que nos había llevado principalmente allí.

But musically speaking, nothing compares withThe Skull. They came with their first LP release some time ago and an EP coming out in those days, though the legacy of Trouble was our main attraction.

Debo decir que las nuevas canciones de The Skull se ajustan mas al estilo de los clásicos de Trouble que lo que ha publicado Trouble con The Distortion Field, así que ahi puede estar uno de los puntos de discordia entre las partes.

I must say that the new songs of The Skull fit more into the classic style of Trouble that the new that has published Trouble with their new album The Distortion Field, so there can be one of the points of difference between the parties.

También es importante señalar que la voz de Eric Wagner es de las que dejan huella y todo ello acompañado por una banda muy buena, confirmaba que no siempre las buenas bandas (tanto nacionales como internacionales ) reciben la atención merecida.

It is also important to note that the voice of Eric Wagner is that kind of voice that leave their mark and all accompanied by a very good band, confirmed that not always good bands receive the attention they deserve (both national and international).

Fueron alternando las canciones propias con las versiones de Trouble y fue impagable verles tocar Plastic Green Head en directo. Un sueño hecho realidad.

They were alternating their own songs with the versions of Trouble, and for me it was amazing to see them play live Plastic Green Head. A dream come true.

No tocaron mas de una hora y se hizo realmente corto, pero podemos ver a Eric Wagner a 1 metro nuestro, dando la mano y saludando al respetable durante todo el concierto. Una autentica gozada que se vio completada unos meses después y que sera objeto de otro articulo.

They didn’t play more than one hour and it was really short and probably due to the poor attendance but, at least, we can see Eric Wagner just 1 meter from us, shaking hands and waving to the audience throughout the concert. A real treat and a real pleasure. A night to remember that few months later it was completed with another experience, but I will talk about in the next article.
