ASYMMETRY FESTIVAL 2016. Day 3.

Llegaba el final del festival con el ultimo día del mismo y quedaban todavía muchas cosas curiosas por ver.

And it was the last day of the festival but still there was many interesting bands to see.

El primer grupo de ese día fue Also With Razors, ganadores de un concurso para formar parte del cartel del festival.

The first group of the day was Also With Razors, winners of a competition to be part of the festival.

Una propuesta potente, pero que no contó con el beneplácito de la audiencia (no habría mas de 20 personas) que prefirieron llegar para actuaciones posteriores.

A powerful proposal, but they didn’t manage to catch a big audience(there would be no more than 20 people) who preferred to arrive later.

 

Curiosamente, siendo sábado fue extraño ver que la afluencia de publico bajo respecto a los 2 días anteriores. Y desde luego el cartel demostró que no fue justo de ningún modo.

Interestingly, being Saturday it was strange to see that the attendance was lower than previous days. But the list of bands an their performances showed that it wasn’t fair at all.

 

El siguiente grupo que pude ver fue Izah, procedentes de Tilburg, con grandes influencias de Neurosis en su música, fueron un huracán en directo y no escatimaron ni una gota de sudor en su actuación.

The next group I could see was Izah, from Tilburg, with great influences of Neurosis in their music. They were a live hurricane and they really deliver a great performance.

Unas luces un poco mas tenues ayudaron a crear esas atmósferas mas opresivas que quería transmitir su música.

With some dim lights they also managed to create these oppressive atmospheres that their music transmit.

 

Después de ellos, llegaba el momento de ver a Dbuk. Un proyecto paralelo de Slim Cessna con una música mas tranquila y una puesta en escena, digámoslo así, curiosa.

After them, it was time to see Dbuk. A parallel project of Slim Cessna with a quieter music and with a quite different stage performance.

 

No me gustaron tanto como el día anterior, pero el contrapunto fue también positivo.

Musically, I didn’t like as much as the day before, but their presentation was also different.

 

 

Me acercaba ese día a ver algo distinto en el escenario pequeño. Se trataba de Lili Refrain, una artista italiana que a base de repetir distintos sonidos en bucle iba creando unas capas de sonido que enriquecían su propuesta individual. 

I managed that day to see something different on the small stage. It was Lili Refrain, an Italian artist that based on a repetition of different sounds with loops, she managed to create different layers of sound that enriched her individual proposal.

Algo distinto a las propuestas clásicas de grupos tradicionales.

Something different from the classic ideas of traditional groups.

Tras ella, era el momento de ver a una banda que esta creciendo mucho y que, en parte sorprende ver con su propuesta musical dentro del sello Relapse.

Just before her performance, it was time to see a band that is growing a lot in popularity and, for me, it’s quite surprising to see their music inside the label Relapse.

 

Se trataba de Nothing, con su shoegaze o noise o como quiera alguien definirlo. Música potente con melodías pop y distorsión.

It was the band Nothing, with its shoegaze or noise or as whatever someone define it. Powerful music with pop melodies and lots of distortion.

 

Me encantó y disfrute ensimismado de su concierto.

I really, really enjoyed their concert and I loved the climate they provide us during their concert.

No puedo definirlo de otra manera porque me parecieron geniales, me encantó su propuesta totalmente diferente dentro del festival así como una brisa de aire fresco con sus duetos vocales y sus vertiente pop.

I can not define it otherwise because it was great for me, I loved their totally different proposal within the festival as well as that breath of fresh air with their vocal duets and this pop influence.

Tras ellos, era el momento de una actuación musical que casi se puede definir como polémica.

And arrives the time for a musical performance that it can almost be defined as controversial.

La unión de Justin Broadrick en su vertiente de Jesu con la propuesta de Sun Kil Moon no era algo que estuviese preparado para aceptar de entrada.

The mix of Justin Broadrick (with his Jesu proposal) with Sun Kil Moon wasn’t something that I was prepared in advance.

 

Para quien no haya visto u oido esta conjunción Jesu/Sun Kil Moon se trata de la estructura musical de una canción por parte de Jesu con algo parecido a la recitación ligeramente melódica por parte de Sun Kil Moon.

For those who have not seen or heard this conjunction Jesu / Sun Kil Moon is the musical structure of a song by Jesu with something like the slightly melodic recitation by Sun Kil Moon.

Pero el problema es que no sabes cuando esta inventándose lo que canta y cuando corresponde al texto de una canción.

But the problem is that you don’t know when he is inventing what sings and when corresponds to the text of a song.

Para añadir mas leña al fuego, Sun Kil Moon decidió inventarse como se decía el nombre de la ciudad donde estaba actuando y creo un dialogo de varios minutos que provocó la hilaridad de los que allí estaban presenciando el concierto ante lo surrealista del tema.

To add more fuel to the fire, Sun Kil Moon decided to invent how is the name of the city where they were playing and he started a dialogue for several minutes that caused the hilarity of those who were there witnessing the concert due to the surreal discussion.

Sin embargo esto generó que excedieran con creces el tiempo que tenían delimitado para su actuación. Como consecuencia de lo anterior, decidí que esa era el ultimo concierto del día para mi por lo que no pude quedarme a ver a Dirge.

However this generated that they overpass time slot that they had defined for their concert but nobody stop them forgoing so. As a result of this, I decided that this was the last show of the day for me so I didn’t stay to see Dirge performance.

Como colofón a este extenso articulo, solo quiero remarcar que supone una gran pérdida para la escena musical en Polonia así como para la ciudad de Wroclaw que desaparezca el Asymmetry Festival.

As a conclusion to this long article, I just want to remark that it’s a great loss to the music scene in Poland as well as for the city of Wroclaw it the plan of Asymmetry Festival to disappears succeed.

Espero que el tiempo les ayude a reconsiderar su decisión y cambien de idea continuando con el festival en posteriores ediciones.

I hope that some time help them to reconsider their decision and change their mind continuing the festival in later editions.
