ASYMMETRY FESTIVAL 2016. Day 1.

Con el comienzo del recién llegado otoño, era el momento de acercarse de nuevo a la ciudad de Wroclaw. 

With the beginning of autumn, it was time to travel again to the city of Wroclaw.

 

En esta ocasión, con motivo de la ultima edición del festival Asymmetry. Escenario de presentación de muchas bandas de distinto pelaje y que en esta edición preparo un cartel simplemente espectacular.

On this occasion, with the last edition of the festival Asymmetry as the reason for it. This was the Platform to present many different bands and even more this year. They prepared a really spectacular lineup.

 

 

Dividido en 3 días, las actividades musicales comenzaban en la tarde el día 22 de Septiembre con el concierto de Joe Buck Yourself. Country con un estilo muy canalla y casi punk en el que el solo se encargaba de la guitarra acústica y de un percusión muy peculiar con un pedal de batería golpeando la funda de la guitarra a modo de bombo.

Divided in three days, the music began in the afternoon on September 22 with the concert of Joe Buck Yourself. Country with some punk influence that presents Him with an acoustic guitar and a percussion based on a drum pedal hitting his guitar case as a drum.

 

Entrega total para el comienzo del festival y todo el mundo disfruto de sus 45 minutos de actuación. Luego podemos verlo entre la gente charlando y conversando con los fans.

He was sweating until his last breath to start the festival and everyone enjoyed his 45 minutes of performance. Later on we can see him among the fans and chatting with them.

En los  intermedios del escenario principal hubo tiempo para artistas solistas o grupos con una propuesta mas minimalista  y que no precisaba del despliegue sonoro del principal, si que registro una afluencia considerable.

During the breaks of the main stage there was time for solo artists or groups with a more minimalist proposal at the Pallete Stage. With a more limited backline than in the main stage, there was enough people during the concerts at this stage.

En el primer día tuve tiempo de ver a Lasse Matthiesen con su propuesta acústica que continuó la senda iniciada por Joe Buck Yourself. Un comienzo tranquilo a la espera de la descarga que se avecinaba.

On the first day I managed to see Lasse Matthiesen with his acoustic proposal that follows the path open by Joe Buck Yourself. A quiet and peaceful beginning before the storm.

Con Darkher era el momento para una actuación de las que no dejan indiferentes. Hubo gente a la que no le resultó interesante, pero a mi me pareció que visualmente y musicalmente fue muy potente. Transmitiendo esa oscuridad de un modo diferente al doom mas tradicional.

With Darkher was time for a musical proposal that was as dark as their own name described. There was some people who did not find it interesting, but I think that visually and musically was very powerful. Transmitting the darkness in a different way to more traditional doom.

 

 

Una propuesta nueva que me llegó.

A new proposal that really got me.

 

Pero sin duda, la propuesta mas diferencial y rompedora fue la de De Staat. Los holandeses que habían partido de una propuesta rockera mas clásica, demostraron que han evolucionado hacia una vertiente absolutamente festiva y electrónica que arrastro al público a una vorágine de baile y desenfreno durante todo el concierto.

But undoubtedly the most differential and groundbreaking proposal this day was De Staat. The Dutch, coming from a more classic rock proposal had managed to evolved into a more electronic based one, were able to drag the public into a spiral of dance throughout their concert.

 

Seguro que fueron una de las actuaciones mas recordadas del festival. El sonido fue muy bueno (como prácticamente durante todo el festival) y permitió que expandiesen sus ganas de juerga a todos

For sure it was one of the most memorable performances of the festival. The sound was very good (as mainly throughout all the festival) and allowed them to transmit their good mood to all of us.

 

 

Tras ellos, llegaba un cambio radical con la participación de los británicos Discharge en una actuación absolutamente a cuchillo y con el publico mutando en sus primeras filas a una que siguió sus temas en los ochentas con montones de punkies añejos y canosos bailando el pogo con las nuevas huestes.

After them, it was time for a radical stylist change with the performance of Discharge. Their concert had the clear target to release their raw energy and rage, and with the audience mutating in the first rows to an aged and gray-haired punks, so the pogo was started joining older and younger generations of punks.

 

Muy curiosos de ver, con una rabia que fluía a través de su cantante y pese a que el punk o este tipo de hardcore no es mi estilo de cabecera, debo decir que me pareció muy buen concierto.

It was very interesting to see them live, with the rage that flowed through its singer and although the punk or hardcore style aren’t my favourites, I must say that the concert was really, really good.

 

Tras ellos, era el momento de mi banda favorita del día que no era otra que YOB. 

And finally arrived the time for my favourite band of the day was none other than YOB.

 

Tras su ultimo concierto en Polonia en la sala Firlej hace unos años (articulo de un servidor ), volvían de nuevo a Wroclaw y de nuevo arrasaron con todo lo que estaba por delante.

After their last concert in Poland in Firlej few years ago (as wrote before on this website), they returned again to Wroclaw and again they torn into pieces our world.

 

En esta ocasión con un repertorio menos centrado en su ultimo disco (creo recordar que solo tocaron Marrow) y más en toda su discografía, pero tuvo la penalización de la rotura de una cuerda de la guitarra por parte de Mike al final de la primera canción lo recorto drásticamente el repertorio.

This time with a repertoire less focused on their last album (I thought that only Marrow was on the setlist) and more diverse throughout their discography. They had the disgrace that Mike broke a string from his guitar at the end of the first song. That meant they got slashed their repertoire.

Sonaron potentes y arrasaron sonoramente nuestra cabezas. Fue una autentica bomba de doom.

They sounded undoubtedly powerful and, sonically, they torn into pieces our heads. It was a real doom bomb.]

Seguramente una de las bandas mas potentes para ver dentro del Doom mas metálico. Un absoluto “must” si se acercan a tu país.

Surely one of the most powerful bands to see inside the Doom style, clearly masters of this style. An absolute «must» if they come to your country.

 

Y para cerrar el día, fueron sus compañeros de gira Black Cobra quienes pusieron la música mas corrosiva y percutieron sin pausa en su configuración de duo. 

And to close the day were their tour mates Black Cobra who put the most corrosive music of the day and kicked us without doubts.

Una autentica barbaridad y atronador final para terminar el día. Grandioso primer día y solo habíamos empezado.

A genuine and thunderous way to close the day. Great first day and the festival had just begun.
